A New Introduction

Good morning everyone!

It’s been a few weeks since my last post, and something great has happened that I have to share.

Ever feel like you hit a block? Like you don’t want to push anymore because no one is listening? Guess what? Someone is ALWAYS listening, even if you don’t notice.

I stumbled across an amazing opportunity a few days ago, as if God Himself put it in my lap to grab onto. I had been thinking about my blog, admittedly, regretting starting it. I felt like I didn’t have a group of people to cling to, or a group of people who wanted to cling to me. I felt like I was blogging for no one, and then the opportunity came.

The opportunity, or Alex Beadon’s Feel Good Blogging Challenge, smacked me in the face and opened my eyes to the fact that I don’t NEED to blog for ANYONE, I NEED to blog for MYSELF. (like what I did there?) This is my hobby, my passion, and what drives me isn’t readers, it’s love. So here goes, this is Day 1, and this is who I am.

My name is Kayla Flores and I grew up in a small, secluded town in Northern California. I’m a little quirky and I love bright pops of color and fun patterns. I’ve been a crafter by heart since I was a small kid, and love doing all sorts of things that allow me to work with my hands, like baking, cooking, painting, sculpting, beading and sewing. If I can make it, I’m going to want to try it!

I moved from California to Arizona right after graduation to study Graphic Design and Animation, but later changed my major to Interior Design. It was about that time that it hit me….I didn’t know WHAT I wanted, I just wanted to make pretty things and make people happy by showing THEM how to make pretty things, too.

Living out in Arizona on my own was tough. I wasn’t being supported financially by my family, and had to get a job to pay for school, rent, and make ends meet. When I ended up in a pretty good job and my school thought I made too much money, they decided to charge me up front for my semesters, and I had to leave. In retrospect, i’m glad it worked out the way it did. I used to feel like a failure for not finishing, but my life has taken me where I feel like it needed to go, and i’m pretty happy where I am today.

These days, I have a full time corporate 9-5 job, and I have two ‘side businesses’ that Include furniture re-vamping, and selling AMAZING nail wraps in my free time. I am a mother to a beautiful 6 month old baby boy, Nicholas, and a partner to the best man I could ever ask for.

The direction of my blog may take some crazy random turns at times, but ultimately, it will focus on DIY projects and tutorials, blogs about mom life, and make a few occasion recipes here and there. Please don’t expect me to stay on track for any given amount of time, and if you want to stay and continue with me on my journey, welcome. It’s going to be a fun, bumpy ride.

Thanks for Reading.

First, let me just say, your banner/logo is absolutely adorable, and I love that you shared the progression of it in your other blog post. Secondly, I’m glad you’re grabbing your blog by the horns again. ^_^ It sounds like your a renaissance soul like me–You love to creatively dabble in whatever peaks your interests. Sometimes randomness is good! Especially with DIYs. =) I truly look forward to what’s to come. Your personality is so colorful!

I LOVE your banner as well! So cute and fun! Very creative! I feel that I was and kind of still am in the same place as you. I love so much and never know what I want to do. But that is also the fun part! Blogging will help share it all! I can’t wait to see what furniture revamping you share with us and DIY stuff! Thanks for sharing so much about you!
